Anyone who knows me really well knows how much I love cleaning- and cleaning supplies. This is a roundup of all my favorite tools to get the job done.
1. Casabella All Purpose Spray Mop ($24.99)
I bought this little mop this week and have not been disappointed. It is a lot more eco-friendly than a Swiffer (it doesn’t require disposable pads or batteries) and it offers comparable cleaning power. The spray trigger on the handle dispenses the perfect amount of product, and the microfiber pad is super absorbent. You can fill the plastic vessel with any type of cleaner you like, but the Spearmint Sage Method Squirt+ Mop Hard Floor Cleaner that it comes with smells like a little bit of heaven. (PS: There’s a hardwood version that comes with Almond Squirt + Mop that smells equally amazing.) Much like a Swiffer it is meant for smaller-scale messes, so don’t ditch the mop and bucket altogether, but it’s perfect for cleaning small spills and tracked-in dirt. If you are looking for an environmentally conscious way to get your floors squeaky clean, look no further! This mop is the answer to your prayers.
These air fresheners aren’t just for the nursery- you can throw them into your gym bag to absorb the smell of your sweaty gear, put them under the seats in your car to freshen up while you’re on the go, or stick them to the inside of your trash- can to banish odors. They come in either Citrus or Lavender scent, and they use the natural odor-absorbing power of baking soda so you are neutralizing offensive smells rather than simply cloaking them with another scent. These petite pucks are small but mighty- about an ounce of product in each one and they last up to 90 days.
3. Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer – Crisp Linen (41 fl oz for $5.49)
Spoiler alert- detergent alone doesn’t kill bacteria, and some bacteria causes odors. Add this fresh-smelling Laundry Sanitizer to germy loads of laundry such as reusable cleaning cloths, gym clothes, washable cat litter mats, after you or a family member has had a cold, hand towels, dish cloths- the list goes on! Since this is an additive, you will still need to use detergent to get everything fresh and clean. This is great because it works in warm and cold water alike and it’s bleach free, so you can use it on colored fabric without ruining anything. Trust me, your laundry will thank you!
4. Method Beach Sage 4x Concentrated Laundry Detergent (53.5 oz for $12.99)
Speaking of laundry detergent, I have never had so many people tell me that I smelled “amazing” (actual quote!) as when I used the Method Beach Sage laundry detergent. A little bit goes a long way- the measurements on the cap may seem small but you can see, feel, and smell the clean. If you want to keep the fresh party going, they have fabric softener, freshness beads, dryer sheets, and even detergent packs in this scent so you don’t have to worry about competing fragrances. There are 66 loads in each bottle, so it lasts a very long time, and all Method products are plant-based, biodegradable, and they work really well! The company is committed to be friendly to the planet. All of their packaging is made from “a blend of recovered ocean plastic + post-consumer recycled plastic”¹ that is meant to be re-recycled. How cool is that?
5. Microfiber cloths 6 pk – up & up™ ($9.99)
This is such a good deal! You get six microfiber cloths for under $10! They all serve different purposes, and they are labeled so you don’t have to remember which one is which. The plush green one is for dusting electronics, the pink work great for dusting furniture with a furniture polish, the blue ones are designed with a grid pattern to maximize scrubbing power and liquid absorbtion, and the yellow cloth is for streak-free cleaning of mirrors, glass, and other shiny surfaces.
6. Babyganics Natural Wool Dryer Balls (3 for $19.99)
I LOVE THESE DRYER BALLS! They are fabulous. I love them so much I even got some for my mom for Christmas last year. Similar versions retail for TWICE as much and do the exact same job- save that money! As someone who is a total sucker for packaging I can really appreciate that cute sheep and his bird friend on the front, and as someone who is extremely impatient I can really appreciate the fact that these little woolen spheres can reduce dry time by up to 25%. They function as fabric softener as well- the oil from the sheep’s wool is distributed through the fibers in your clothing as the dryer balls bounce around. Pretty nifty.
7. Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish (12 oz for $3.99)
If you have stainless steel appliances this is a must. Stainless steel is notoriously hard to clean- it streaks EXTREMELY easily with regular cleaners, fingerprints will show up like nobody’s business, and it is prone to rusting. This cleaner is great because you simply spray a little bit on, rub in circles with a microfiber cloth, and presto! You have a fabulously shiny surface instantly. For surfaces that have already rusted or if you have a grimy stainless steel sink, use some steel wool and a little elbow grease in conjunction with the stainless steel polish. No need to rinse with water (it will just streak again.)
